The Garden Annex
The Garden Annex is on the ground floor, which means the French doors open directly onto the garden path. In the morning, you can sit in bed and watch the light come through the old magnolia. In the evening, the garden is lit by three copper lanterns that someone polishes once a week without being asked.
The room is not the largest in the house, but it feels generous because of what is outside it. The bed faces the garden. The bathroom is tiled in white with brass fixtures that have aged into something more interesting than they started as. There is a small writing table by the window that most guests use for coffee rather than writing.
Bridal parties have a particular affinity for this room. The garden door, the morning light, the proximity to everything without being in the middle of it — it is ideal for bridal party mornings, and it has been booked for that purpose more weekends than not between May and October.
