About The Wren House
Eight Historic Quarter Lane, New Vibe City.
The House
Built in 1927
The building at 8 Historic Quarter Lane was constructed in 1927 by Edward Hargrove, a lumber merchant who intended it as a family home. The Hargroves lived here for thirty-one years. After Edward's death in 1958, the house passed through three owners — a dentist who used the ground floor as his practice, a pair of sisters who ran a boarding house through the 1970s, and a developer who subdivided the upper floors into apartments and let the garden go to seed.
In 2008, the current proprietors purchased the building, restored the original floor plan, rebuilt the garden wall, and opened eight guest rooms. The house has operated continuously as The Wren House since then. The fireplace is original. The bannister is original. The wren that nests above the back door every spring was not part of the plan, but she has become the most reliable thing about the place.

The People
The family that has run The Wren House since 2008
There are no names on the website. There are no portraits in the lobby. The family that owns and operates The Wren House prefers it this way, and they have preferred it this way since the day they opened the doors. They live nearby. They are often on the property. You may meet them, and if you do, they will not introduce themselves as the owners.
"We believe the house should speak for itself."
The Philosophy
Eight rooms. No loyalty program. No app. No checkout prompt for a branded tote bag. You stay. You feel at home. You come back. If you don't come back, you remember it. If you remember it, you tell someone. If you tell someone, they come. That is the entire business model. It has worked since 2008, and we have no plans to improve it.
For more about the neighborhood, the NVC Gazette has been covering this block since before we opened the doors.
The guest book, should you wish to sign it, is on the side table in the lobby. Beside the flowers — they're from the Nguyen family at Lily & Bloom, 38 Main Street, refreshed Monday and Thursday. DeShawn Pruitt has never signed it.
Come see the house. We'll leave the light on.
