The Founders Suite
The Founders Suite was the master bedroom of the original 1927 house, and it carries that history in its proportions. The ceilings are higher here than in any other room. The fireplace works — it is gas now, converted in 2015, but the mantle is original limestone and the hearth tiles are the same ones that were laid when the house was built.
There is a king bed, a separate sitting area with a sofa and two chairs, and a bathroom that was expanded in 2008 to include a walk-in shower alongside the original tub. The windows face south and west, which means the room is warm in the afternoon and golden at sunset.
This is the room for occasions. Anniversaries, proposals, the kind of weekend where you want to feel like you are staying somewhere that understands why you came. The fireplace is lit on request from October through March. We do not charge extra for it. Some things should just be included.
Two town receptions have been held in the garden visible from this room's windows. The host and the proprietor have a cordial and professional relationship, which in NVC means something.
