The Hargrove Room
The Hargrove Room is named in honor of NVC's legal tradition — a lineage of civic service that predates the hotel by half a century. The room sits on the second floor, east side, where the morning light comes through two tall windows that have never been replaced because no one has found a reason to.
There is a queen bed, a reading chair, and a bookshelf that guests have been quietly adding to for over a decade. The collection is eclectic and revealing. Someone left a first edition of a book about maritime law. Someone else left a romance novel with a bookmark on page 47. We leave everything where it is.
The bathroom is simple and well-lit. The towels are oversized. There is a small watercolor of the NVC courthouse on the wall opposite the bed. It was painted by someone whose name we should probably know.
The watercolor of the courthouse was a gift. The judge who gave it never stayed here, but she has opinions about the breakfast.
